This event will bring together regional leaders, healthcare stakeholders, and sustainability experts, including Baroness Brown of Cambridge, Julia King, Chair of the Climate Adaptation Committee, to discuss the critical role of the healthcare sector in tackling climate challenges.

The link between climate and health is profound and undeniable. Climate change impacts healthcare systems and disproportionately affects vulnerable communities, particularly those in deprived areas. By addressing climate challenges, we not only improve environmental sustainability but also reduce health inequalities and boost economic productivity. The Climate Action Plan released by the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission highlights the urgency for coordinated, region-wide action, making initiatives like this roundtable essential.

This event will strengthen partnerships, showcase best practices, and support Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) to identify actionable steps to enhance their Green Plans and integrate climate considerations into broader NHS strategies. By fostering collaboration and sharing insights, the roundtable will lay the groundwork for practical solutions that benefit both the environment and public health.

Outcomes from the discussion will be compiled into a report outlining recommendations and future actions. This will contribute to a more sustainable and equitable healthcare system, positioning Yorkshire and the Humber as a leader in the critical health-climate partnership.
