Health and Work across Yorkshire and the Humber

A new thought piece by our chief executive Richard Stubbs has been published on the importance of working together across sectors to share initiatives that improve good health through good employment.
Economic inactivity is a growing challenge for society, particularly in Yorkshire and the Humber, impacting both life outcomes of the population and having significant impact upon the wider economy. Our YHealth for Growth campaign and white paper advocates that work and health are inextricably linked. Traditionally, the emphasis has been on improving individual health to enable sustainable employment. However, the reverse is also true: “good work” significantly contributes to good health.
The blog argues that initiatives that pave the way for inclusive work is fundamental to tackling economic inactivity through ill health, regionally and beyond.
Health Innovation Yorkshire and Humber is committed to highlighting and building upon existing regional initiatives to help people stay healthy and remain in employment across our region. As well as the blog, you can now access our new Health and Work web section, which will act as a dynamic repository of the good practice that’s already underway across our region.
