Propel@YH digital health accelerator programme and its cohort businesses have been showcased as part of London Tech Week 2019.
London Tech Week is Europe’s biggest technology festival, with over 250 events taking place across the capital and more than 50,000 visitors in attendance. It recognises innovative tech companies and initiatives from across the UK, and how access to tech for all can have a profoundly positive impact in society and business.
Propel@YH is the Yorkshire and Humber’s pioneering digital health accelerator programme, and aims to help its cohort of digital health start-ups navigate the complex healthcare landscape and build an NHS-relevant business case. The programme is commissioned by the Yorkshire & Humber AHSN (Academic Health Science Network) in partnership with mHabitat, an NHS-owned specialist and expert in the application of digital to health and care.
HM Government North, Northern Powerhouse and Leeds City Region are using London Tech Week to showcase some of the brilliant tech innovators in the north of England, including the Propel@YH cohort businesses.
The featured Propel@YH start-ups are DigiBete, Healthcare Engineering, HeteroGenius, Medicspot and Scaled Insights, who bring innovation to market in diabetes management and support, digital patient triage, digital pathology, remote consultation in pharmacies and NHS centres, and application of AI to personalise patient treatment paths.
Neville Young, Director of Enterprise and Innovation for the Yorkshire & Humber AHSN, said: “We’re delighted that Propel@YH and its 2019 cohort has been recognised as a key player in UK digital innovation by the Cabinet Office and London Tech Week.
“Digital health innovation is going from strength to strength in Yorkshire, with over 250 businesses in the Leeds City Region alone specialising in medical technologies.
“Twenty-two percent of the UK’s digital health technology jobs are in the region, plus we’re lucky to have a world-leading concentration of excellence in research and innovation. In short, it’s an ideal place to start and grow a business that improves patient outcomes, contributes to economic growth and creates employment opportunities.”
